APRIL AT THE ANCHOR HOUSE OF ARTISTS
I cordially invite you to two special events this month at the Anchor House of Artists, 518 Pleasant St., Northampton:
Friday, April 13
6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Opening reception for “Streaming Hatfield,” an exhibit of more than 30 new paintings, during Northampton’s monthly Arts Night Out.
Friday, April 27, 7 p.m.
Screening of the videos Airstreamin’ and Shack Time
Airstreamin’ is an offbeat documentary about a convention of Airstream trailers that descended upon Amherst.
Shack Time, a documentary about the artist shacks in the dunes of the Cape Cod National Seashore, was chosen for the 2001 New England Film and Video Festival.
The Anchor House of Artists is a remarkable place, established in 1997 “to support and expand the creative careers of artists living with mental illnesses, fight the social stigma that they face, and contribute to the cultural enrichment of Western Massachusetts and beyond.”
Outside the gallery for visiting artists, Anchor House’s walls are filled with rich, imaginative artwork, and it is home to the New England Visionary Artists Museum. There is plenty more to see than my paintings!
To get to Anchor House, take Exit 18 off Interstate 91, and turn left toward Northampton on Route 5. Proceed approximately one-third mile until you see a rotary ahead and a bowling alley on your left.
Turn right just before the Shell gas station on the right. Anchor House is the long, low, industrial-looking building to the right of the gas station. The ground floor entrance faces Route 5, and is universally accessible.
From Northampton center, take Pleasant Street heading south toward rotary. Turn left just beyond the Shell station.
There is parking in front and in the lot between Anchor House and the gas station.
