  1. You have been busy this summer, Russell, while many of us slacked off. Were some of these paintings inspired by the heat and your gardens? I always love seeing your creative work. Who knows what the fall might inspire.

    1. Thank you, Elena. I love to paint, but there is no denying that there is a therapeutic aspect to it as well, and painting also serves as an antidote to the despair often hovering at the ravages of our nation. Gardens and heat? Yes, And also the fields and river. Thanks, as always, for your encouragement and feedback!

  2. I like the first and the last painting, “Summer 2020” because you have really given them layers of interesting directional lines in busy hot colors showing the heat and chaos of this 2020 summer. The second painting “Dikes at Dusk” uses the same depth of marks but in cooler evening colors. The layering of marks and swirls makes these paintings much richer and I like them a lot.

    1. Thank you, Jan! I appreciate the feedback. I am only recently learning the properties of acrylic medium, and painting plein air by the river Monday evenings with a small group of painters (including tonight!). If you ever want to join us, let me know. We would welcome it.
